For consulting interviews, I struggle with the infamous question: “What do you consider your biggest weakness?” People tell me to be myself and to be honest but I don’t wanna put myself down too much so they’ll think it’s a red flag. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

As with all consulting interview questions, you should always structure your response. A structure will help you keep your response concise, easy to follow, and focused.

Summarize your greatest weakness in one sentence then illustrate your it with an example

Explain the actions you have taken (or are taking) to improve yourself

Describe the tangible results of your improvement and what remains to be done
To help you, below are some examples of weaknesses (if you ever run out of ideas):
