I passed the OA by some miracle since it was so hard. But now I have the virtual interview to complete. Anyone know what kinds of questions to expect for either or both positions?
Yeah the OAs for places like IMC are notoriously hard so congrats! The following interview questions were asked recently:
Quant trader -
- why do you want to be a quant trader?
- throwing a fair 6-sided dice, what’s the probability every even number appears before the first odd number appears?
- You’re giving milk and coffee to people, where each person receives the same amount of coffee + milk but ratio of coffee to milk is different. One person got 1/4 of total coffee and 1/6 of the milk, a total of 8 ounces. How many people are you giving milk and coffee too?
Quant research -
- How did you find out about the opportunities at IMC, and why Quant Research?
- Explain Central Limit Theorem to a person who didn’t study STEM and give an example
- Explain Hypothesis Testing to a person who didn’t study STEM and give an example
- Explain Selection Bias and give some examples
