I’ve been thinking about applying to Bytedance SWE full time position since I believe the comp is really good and the job is quite rewarding. I’m not as worried about the WLB because I’m ok with working a lot while I’m young and as long as it’s a learning experience. However, I’ve also heard a lot about how if you don’t speak Chinese you’re at a severe disadvantage because lots of meetings and communication are in Chinese. I don’t want to get left out of stuff Is this true, should I just stay away as a non-Chinese person? Or are they making an effort to hire more diversely?
Also for those who have interviewed with the company, what are the interviews like? Are they like standard SWE interviews? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Please don’t take this post the wrong way, I’m just genuinely curious and interested - it’s not meant to be any kind of judgment or opinion.
