Hi y’all! I just wanted say hi as the TechGuru at Leap, currently working at a big N company as a SWE. I graduated from a top cs school not long ago and I’ve had a ton of experience applying to and interviewing for SWE (and CS related in general) roles, whether that be internships or full time. Most of my friends are also SWEs and I can offer a lot of insight regarding various and companies and general career advice. I will be the designated tech guru on Meets at Leap going forwards. If you guys have anything you would like to ask or just need some general advice, please feel free to ask them here or tag me elsewhere. I hope to be a useful resource to anyone who needs it!

Hello! How much harder is it to get an internship or job at a hedge fund as an SWE? I hear it’s near impossible as their standards are much higher than even FAANG. If I wanted to try, do you have any tips?
Tbh they tend to be very picky about the school you go to and set a relatively higheer bar, which is likely also due to their smaller size. They tend to have harder OAs and if you’re an undergrad, you definitely need to have a very solid math background. If you really wanted to prepare for these interviews, I’d say aim to do LC hards, study a lot of math and the more theoretical side of CS, even take more math classes if you can. Practice is very important!
